World’s Best Lasagna

– adapted from recipe by same name on

this lasagna was thick and hearty. the sweet sausage adds such a great flavor! I will definitely be making this again!served with multigrain garlic butter toast and some shiraz wine.

1 lb sweet italian sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 onion
4 TB minced garlic

2TB italian seasoning
3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
2TB sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 TB dried basil
1 jar your fave red pasta sauce (around 26 oz)

12 lasagna noodles and some salt

16 oz container of ricotta cheese
1/2 cup fresh chopped basil
1/2 tsp salt

1 pkg shredded italian blend cheese
1 pkg mozzarella slices

1. cook sausage, beef, onion, garlic til meat is browned.

2. add all ingredients in group b. stir and let simmer covered for about 45 min.

3. cook lasagna noodles in salted water. drain and run through cold water.

4. preheat oven to 375 degrees.

5. mix together all ingredients in group d.

6. Line 9×13 pan with foil and spray with cooking spray. lay down 4 noodles.spread about 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture across noodles. Spoon enough of meat sauce to cover noodles (about 4 ladle fulls).cover with 4 – 6 mozarella slices. sprinke about 3/4 cup shredded cheese. Repeat for 2 more layers.

7. spray foil with cooking spray and cover pan. cook in oven for 25 min covered. 25 min uncovered. let cool for 15 min before serving
