Walked next door just now to try out Gui Korean & Japanese Bistro for lunch. Turns out they are only just doing a soft opening and as a result were comping our meal! omg! how nice!
The menu is currently limited to sushi only as they are still getting the kitchen ready for the rest of the dishes which will included my beloved bulgogi and other korean bbq entrees.
My coworkers and I ordered miso soup, tuna tower, sumonoudo, caterpillar roll, veggie roll, and McKinney roll.
miso soup was cool when we got it, but standard. sumonoudo – a selection of sashimi in a rice wine vinagrette was super fresh. tuna tower, great. caterpillar – AWESOME. McKinney – standard. everything was very very fresh.
The restaurant itself is very nice looking on the inside– almost night club/lounge trendy decor. downtempo music playing in the background and a hot hostess who’s dress was super hot, but maybe a little too short and clubby for daytime. the owner stopped by to check on us and tell us a little more about what is in store. nice.
definitely looking fwd to checking this place out when it’s in full swing!
